Welcome to my website!
I will be posting a recent image at least once every month.
I spend a lot of time hiking with my camera in the mountain trails here on the Sunshine Coast and on this occasion I was lucky to have a fresh snowfall to add another element to my images.
As I made my way up one of the trails the wind started to pick up and snow began to fall from the branches in clouds to the forest floor below. I had to shield the camera and moved in close to a tree trunk as I made the decision to attempt to capture the motion of the falling snowflakes using a slow shutter speed to convey movement.
I like the way each snowflake has it's own fractal-like chaotic motion on it's individual descent, reminding me of the drip technique used in some of the abstract works of the painter Jackson Pollock.
I'm very pleased with the way this image turned out and look forward to my future hikes in our beautiful forests.
Thanks for your interest,
Dean.
